How many women does it take to kill the toughest gunfighter in New Mexico? Civilized people see the festering boom town of Philistine, New Mexico as the armpit of the Earth, but to gunfighter Rip Campbell, it's just home.
His life is wild, rough, and free, just the way he likes it-- until the day he saves a woman from bandits in the wilderness.
His act of valor throws him into a series of misadventures he could never have anticipated.
Whether running from Indians, facing down rustlers, murderous bandits, drunken mobs, or bawdy saloon girls, Rip never loses his skewed humor, his sense of high frontier honor, or his predilection for mindless violence.

  •     Pistol-packing, rifle-toting wild-west hero stumbles from one crisis to another (one "lady" to another) until he reaches his "just deserts". Chuckles at the unexpected ending.
  •     An exciting western adventure from Rob Mancebo. Different from his other writings, his style of writing makes me feel like I'm there and keeps me in anticipation of what is coming next. Rob brings you into each character's mind and heart. The ending is just what we need to hear in our high-speed transient world. This is a fun, boisterous story with a great ending that leaves you with a good feeling.
  •     This is the finest Westerns I have read in a very long time: I hope there is a sequel!
  •     Rob Mancebo's " Born to Trouble" is a charming insight into the world of Rip Campbell, New Mexico's toughest gun slinger. Rips astonishing knack for getting himself into a pickle in this high energy , action packed Western will have you wanting more when you close the book. Each chapter brings new mischief, fights, humorous antidotes ,perilous situations and lovers quarrels ,just to name a few. Rob Mancebo's knack for writing makes this book a fun filled sit-down read that has you laughing and "face palming" through the whole book , and his want to get his lead character entangled with as many feisty, trouble making females is enough to make you feel sorry for o'l Rip.The introduction of Rip is an entertaining one, and it continues through the book. Whether he is saving swindling saloon owners from the rope or breaking up bar fights, escaping from a tribe of Indians or chasing wagon thieves into the desert ol' rip never disappoints. He isn't known as the toughest gun slinger around for nothing. He's there kicking up as much trouble as he can, and tending to his own heard of cattle while he's at it.I highly recommend this book if you just want a "rip" roaring-if you'll excuse the pun- high paced Action packed western with enough sass and scheming in it to keep you occupied for a fun evening of reading.ENJOY!!
