Author Name:Goldiner, MR James

When I was first presented the task of editing and preparing this compelling collection of poems, I felt rather like Max Brod, both friend and champion.
Certainly none could ever claim that Jim Goldiner has ever embraced self-promotion and his work, therefore, is scarcely known to the public except for previous publication in a few poetry journals, having remained until now an undiscovered treasure.
The title, "Cracks in the Concrete" aptly reflects the core thematic material seen throughout this difficult but intriguing collection, tempered by Goldiner's experiences in the merchant navy and as a long time New York City Social Worker, while the poems range from poetic descriptions of human despair to wry and marginally black humor.
It can be said that the poetry taken as a whole, follows down the well trodden path laid out by Kierkegaard and Camus, chronicling the lives of those who have truly fallen between the cracks.

  •     I love this book of poetry by James Goldiner. Each poem when I come to last line I swoon a little. Altho one last line made me giggle. I have given this book as a gift to 20 people, friends and relatives. I know I am giving them a wonderful gift.If a heart could write poetry, this is the poetry a heart would write. It is as natural as the air we breathe. Each poem is a story. Which is very satisfying. He tells a story in each poem, and all the stories are interesting. It is a very interesting book. Totally interesting.Maybe that is its delight. To find it all so interesting and yet reading it is as easy as watching the birds in the back yard. And just as lovely.I am infinitely grateful to his publisher, Stewart Rein, for bringing this book into the world. The world would lose so much if this book were not in it, and gains so much because it is.As a writer myself I am madly in love with Goldiner's poetry here. And as a publisher, I am beyond grateful that Stewart Rein did the mountain of work to bring us this book.Enjoy!!!Love, Annie (Anne Wilensky in Tucson Arizona)
