Los Angeles.
Once, it was the City of Angels.
Now, it’s Crimson City, whose inhabitants know nothing of Heaven.
The tentative peace between the species—werewolf, vampire, human—teeters on the brink of collapse.
Sides are being chosen.
Yet the peril is greater than any imagine.
There is a power here that longs for release, an ancient darkness held captive too long.
Below, beneath, beyond, it seethes.
And there are those who would see it freed.
Mika herself seeks freedom.
She’s come to Crimson City looking for the key.
But that key’s keeper is a killer, an outsider, a mercenary with a poisoned past.
To her kind, he has meant only death.
No matter that Conor McCabe’s pale green eyes hold a hint of lust, the glint of a bond never to be broken; the path ahead lies in shadow.
In a city like this, death can come by fire or fang, by claw or kiss.
And the moment of truth must come...Through a Crimson Veil.

About the Author

Patti O'Shea's passions are writing, airplanes and traveling.
Fortunately, she's been able to enjoy all three.
After receiving a degree in advertising copywriting, she took a job with a major U.S.
airline and now works in 757 Engineering.
Besides teaching her about the planes she loves, it's given her an opportunity to travel to places like Australia, Papua New Guinea and Canada's Yukon Territory.
Writing, though, remains her primary love.
Patti created her first romance when she was in junior high school and has been hooked ever since.
She should have figured out she was a writer years earlier, however, since her dolls had such involved lives, complete with goals, motivation and conflict.

  •     “Crimson City” by Liz Maverick (Crimson City book 1) is about vampires. “A Taste of Crimson” by Marjorie M. Liu (Crimson City book 2) is about the werewolves.
  •     You're nuts if you are not reading this series. Mika has been sent to Crimson City on an extremely important mission; a mission that she cannot disclose to anyone. She is trying to steal something from the B-Ops freelancer that is killing rogue paranormals on the streets of Los Angeles. This freelancer's name is Connor and he is Mika's vishtau mate. This may not mean a lot to you or me, but it is a sacred bond to the demonkind. Mika has to deceive Connor to work her way into his life.Connor does not want to trust Mika. She is a half-breed just like him and he hates his demon half due to the circumstances of his birth. He fears the loss of control that falling in love with her represents. He is very upset when her deception becomes apparent. This is a story where you really love both of the characters involved. It was awesome to watch them come together and overcome their own fears and defeat mutual enemies. You are also introduced to the Dark Ones, the Bak-Faru. They are ultra bad and you do not want to mess with them. They have plans for the world though and I for one am very worried about the citizens of Crimson City if these guys gets loose. So far this series of stories has been top notch. Each book has advanced and complemented the overall story so strongly that I am literally salivating waiting on the next book.
  •     for my wife and daughter.
  •     This is the first on of the series of Crimson City books I read and I had to get all the others. All these books, written by various authors are so good.
  •     I really liked this book. It was fast paced and action packed!!! The story was awesome. I didn't have one boring moment. I smiled a lot while reading this book.
  •     I am so sad that Ms O'Shea is not writing more books in this series because she created characters that I cared about and wanted to see again.
  •     I enjoyed the first two Crimson City books with all the action and kick-ass heroines. There is more of a historical-type romance than action in this third book so if you're...
  •     just finishing the book now it had a story that kept me interested i can'y wait to read the next one
  •     Courtesy of CK2S Kwips and KritiquesVampires and werewolves have overrun Crimson City and humans are caught in the middle. The demons were trapped behind the veil a long time ago to prevent them from destroying the world. Now some of the humans decide to enlist the aid of an even more powerful and extremely dangerous species... the Bak Faru. Their very name strikes fear in everyone's hearts. Even other demons are afraid to use the name of the Dark Ones.Mika is half human/half demon, called upon by the demon council to track down hunter Conor McCabe and relieve him of a spell he possesses which could enslave the entire demon population. However, Mika has a secondary plan... Conor is her vishtau mate and she will do anything to get close to him and protect him from danger. All does not run smooth in Crimson City. Conor is also half demon, though he despises that half of himself and hates all demons. The last thing he wants is to take on a case to be bodyguard to half-demon Mika but he's drawn to her nonetheless. What is really going on with the other demons released through the veil? Why does it seem two different factions want Mika... or is it McCabe they want... dead?Wow, Through a Crimson Veil is an incredible book. The story is so engrossing I found myself wanting to drive farther and longer so I could listen that much longer. So much is happening sometimes it's a wonder I could keep everything straight. Yet when all the various threads are woven together, the complete picture they reveal is incredibly fascinating. I ran the gamut of emotions throughout, from fear of the dreaded Bak Faru to laughter over Mika's escapades and anger at our love birds' stubbornness to joy when they finally accept their bond. We've met the vampires and the werewolves... now we meet the demons. And who would have thought that just because they are demons doesn't mean they are bad, some are just extremely deceptive. The hierarchy of the demonic world and they types of demons was quite intriguing. Each kind have their own quirks, abilities, and characteristics and the level of evilness grows as we go higher up the demonic food chain.Mika and Conor are both flawed individuals. Mika has never felt like she belonged anywhere because of the dual nature brought about by having a human father and a demon mother. Conor is also a half breed demon and he despises demons of all kinds, especially hating his demonic side because of the circumstances surrounding his birth. Yet where Mika has embraced both halves, Conor would like nothing more than to be able to destroy his demonic half. What he doesn't understand is that the longer he denies his other half, the more he loses control and risks self destruction. He desperately needs Mika, though he does not understand why. Their vishtau bond links them as if they are one being and only Mika has the chance to convince Conor that embracing his demon side does not necessarily have to be a bad thing. The passion that erupts between them is as hot as the flames of Orcus, leading to some very sensual and seductive moments between them.I am thoroughly enjoying each foray into the Crimson City Realm and can't wait to see what will happen next in A Darker Crimson by Carolyn Jewel.© Kelley A. •     Could have been a little better though, I think. Comparing this one to the first two, it fell a little flat somehow.
  •     I have read the other Crimson City books and I have to say I was a little disappointed in this storyline.
  •     Yikes! Excellent book. Follows typical romance plot for the most part, but with a few twists. Mika is a kick-ass heroine who comes into her and her mate's (Conor McCabe's powers)...
  •     Meet the "other" race in Crimson City. Now we have demons! Well, one of them at least is in the city. She's Mika, half human-half demon. And not even a very strong demon at that. But she is stronger than the average human. She split her time between her human father and demon mother but is more comfortable in the demon world. Then we have McCabe. He hunts demons. When he isn't busy hunting werewolves and vampires. He works for B-Ops, the paramilitary outfit that serves as a policing force in the City of Angels aka Crimson City. He hates demons. But, that means he hates himself. McCabe has a demon father and a human mother, but he never met his father. He's looking to meet him though. But it's not for a Hallmark reunion, that's for sure.McCabe and Mika are hot and sexy characters. They fight and love with equal amounts of passion. Mika is a spoiled brat you want to smack at times and McCabe is an arrogant ass who needs to be kicked in the gonads. Yep, I loved these characters. Any time an author has me talking back to the characters, she's won my heart.Pick up Mika and McCabe's story today. It's the third in the Crimson City series and brings a whole new look to the players. Now it's not just fangs and vamps we have to worry about. It's a demon playground as well. And the demons are less organized factionally than either the werewolves or the vampires. Makes for a fascinating read!
  •     I know THROUGH A CRIMSON VEIL is part of the Crimson City series - and I worried that I wouldn't understand what was going on if I tried to play catch-up with this, the third book. However, I'm happy to report that THROUGH A CRIMSON VEIL is a great stand-alone book!I've read Ms. O'Shea's previous work, enjoyed it immensely and wanted to read this book. I resisted, however, thinking I needed to read the others in the series. So if that's what's holding you back - stop it! Get the book and read it!Through a Crimson Veil has a great "concept", interesting, sexy characters and a great story. I've enjoyed it so much, I'm ordering the first 2 in the series and will read whatever follows. I'm not going to restate the plot lines and re-explain the book to you, other reviewers have done a great job with that. I will however, tell you that Para's are not usually my "norm" but I quite enjoyed Through a Crimson Veil. Let's see more (and more, and more) from this author!!!
