  •     Read it, used it, gave it to someone who needed it more than I did
  •     I will admit that once I bought the Kindle version of this study bible I was a little let down. It wasn't very easy to navigate and it took me longer to get to the verses I wanted, making me wish I had brought by hardback copy as a backup while studying. But after awhile I learned how to quickly find what I want and it works okay. I will admit that it may still be faster to find a verse in a paper copy, but I understand and accept the limitations on technology, and the benefit of being able to carry my bible wherever I go and it not take up so much space still outweighs electronic's little downfalls. As far as the bible itself, as a Christian who has grown up in church all my life, yet has recently discovered what it really means to study the bible, I think this is a great version to start with. It's easy to read and the maps, outlines, and introductions to each chapter is great for understanding what to expect in each chapter of the bible. I don't know what all it entails to become a "master studier" of the bible, but as a person who has started studying and has now been studying it for awhile, this version is excellent. Of course, I know not to rely on only one source for studying, so I do go outside of this text and look at other versions of the bible (KJV and other study supplements) to gain understanding, but this particular bible is my main study tool. There is only one thing I found in this text that truly bothers me and hopefully Zondervan can fix is. I noticed that in the book of Zephaniah, two of the chapter headings say "Habbakkuk 2" and "Habbakkuk 3" instead of "Zephaniah 2" and "Zephaniah 3." It threw me off at first and granted it's not too big of a deal because I know what you meant to say (just an electronic mistake), but it makes it a little hard to search when the titles of the chapters are wrong. Other than this, I enjoy using this bible and will continue to keep using it throughout my study of the ministry of Jesus Christ.
  •     A+
  •     I love this Bible! I have a few Bibles but was missing one that could elaborate and explain what I'm reading.
  •     Enjoying the detailed study notes
  •     This is an excellent study bible. I also have this in large print and find that the hard copy is good for at home and the kindle version is wonderful for on the go.
  •     great learning experience
  •     Review of the actual content: This study Bible is the NIV (New International Version) which is probably the most popular modern day translation and is well-suited for either in-depth study or personal reading. This translation is a good balance between dynamic and formal equivalence which means that it seeks to preserve both the thought behind the original language text while also not straying too far from a "word-for word" translation. I've had the hardback version of this Bible since right before I started college eight years ago, and I have been impressed by the quality of the accompanying notes.Review of this product when formulated for Kindle ebook:I was trying to decide between getting this Zondervan Study Bible version for Kindle or the newHoly Bible (NIV)which is also formatted for Kindle but doesn't have notes. I was not certain how I felt about all the changes they have made in the new 2011 revision, so I decided to stick with this version, especially since it is cheaper. I was nearly dissuaded from choosing this one, however, because the sample that I downloaded did not allow me to access the in-line verse notes and other reviews here stated that they were not available in the Kindle version. The notes actually ARE available (Use the 5-point controller to navigate the cursor over the first word following an underlined superscript number in the text. When the cursor is over the word, click on it by pushing down on the 5-point controller). The study notes for that specific verse will pop up. When you're done reading, click "Back" to go back to the main Bible text. When you see a cross superscript, that indicates you can do the same procedure, but when you click on it, it will bring up the concordance notes instead of the study notes. This is a little clunky and certainly not as easy as having the notes side by side, but it does work. As far as overall navigation goes, it is certainly manageable to move to a certain book, but I agree with other reviewers that it would be difficult to rapidly jump between books and verses during a Bible study. Still, if you only want to go to a specific book and read straight through, it is easy enough by going to Menu / Go to... / Table of Contents and then selecting the book or Menu / Search this Book / and then type in something like "James 2" which will generally bring up the book that you are looking for.All in all, this is a good translation of the Bible with good accompanying notes. The Kindle version is not ideal due to a lack of an easy search function to quickly switch between verses, but it is manageable for individual study, and I would recommend the product.
  •     This is a Kindle version for me. The translation is good for the most part but you cannot beat the old KJ version for some of the references to Jesus' family / relationships.
  •     The King James Version is the true Bible to be reading............so I go -100 on this ....
  •     Excellent bible! Nice maroon color leather, gold trim on side, high quality finish and print. God's word is awesome and true!
  •     I am very disappointed with this purchase. I don't write reviews, but I feel very strongly that Amazon is selling a product for Kindle that borders on fraud. The Zondervan NIV Study Bible is a great study Bible in book form. However, the Kindle version does not let you use all the great features of a study Bible.First, it is hard to navigate. I've only been able to go to the Table of Contents to get to the scripture that I want. There is no search feature to take you directly to the chapter and verse you want. Amazon or Zondervon, whoever is responsible for this inferior product, go to [...] and see how an electronic Bible is supposed to work.Second, you can't get to the study notes from the scripture you are reading. This is the purpose of a study Bible! All you can do with this electronic version is read the Bible, it is not a study tool.I wish I could get my money back. I was really looking forward to using my Kindle as my primary Bible, but that will not be the case. Please, don't waste your money on this product!
