  •     Ms Rosner has a gift..she can use humor to create memories of the lovely autistic son she is raising. Even if you do not have a child with autism chances are you know someone who does. Maybe your child attends school with a child who is autistic. This will grow your heart and will demonstrate that will a sense of humor Moms are super heroes.
  •     If you've any experience of autism you won't get far in this book before a familiar situation pops up. You may not have laughed at the time of your own incident, but with Ms. Rosner's easy writing style you can't help but see the funny side of life's experiences. The use of humor helps with, but doesn't eliminate, some of the challenges of raising a child with autism and so I would definitely recommend this book not only for parents and grandparents, but as a gift for extended relatives and friends, too, to gently introduce them to the day-to-day realities of your world. Let's face it, the first time you hear the word, "autism" can be very scary. Hopefully D.M. Rosner's willingness to share her experiences will show that these special children may be different; they may be challenging, but they can also bring more joy than could ever be imagined.
  •     Witty and funny, Welcome to My World gives an insightful look into what it's like to be the parent of an autistic child. Whether have a child who is autistic or just know one, this book is for you. I highly recommend it!
  •     Ms. Rosner's world is my world, too. Autism can be a very scary word when your child is first diagnosed, and the challenges of raising a child with autism, no matter what their abilities, can be considerable. D.M. Rosner's book reminds me that a sense of humor can be a parent's most valuable tool. I can relate to so many of her stories (I found myself laughing and crying simultaneously at times) and I appreciate her ability to look back on some of her son's 'adventures' with a humorous eye.I think this is a great book for all parents/grandparents of a child who has autism, but it could also be a gentle way to introduce to other family members or friends who don't 'get it' that autism is not a black hole, but that our kids are real people with individual personalities, who can bring us more joy than we could ever have imagined, despite the inherent challenges!
  •     As a parent who lives in a world with a child diagnosed with ASD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, this book is truly a gem to read and own. Ms. Rosner describes with love, affection and humour the faceted events of family life while raising her wonderful son diagnosed with ASD. It takes courage to write this book on such a personal level, and we as readers and parents, can laugh, cry and glimpse into Ms. Rosner's world with gratitude.Rosner's book also contains sections with factual information about Autism Spectrum Disorders, very helpful to educate family members, friends and teachers. Studded throughout the pages are unique graphics and along with creative page design, the book is a true reader's delight. A definite book for parents, teachers and anyone who wants to learn more about the Autism Spectrum and the personal world of living with a child diagnosed with ASD.
