Rice is the most important food crop for human consumption is the staple food for nearly half of the world population.
It continues to play vital role in the international food grain supply.
Rice is life for thousands of millions of people.
In Asia, more than 2000 million people obtain 60-70 percent of their calories from rice and its products.
It is of significant importance for food security in an increasing number of low-income food deficit countries.
However rice production is facing serious constraints including a declining rate of growth in yields, depletion of natural resources, labour shortages, institutional limitations and environmental pollution.
Overcoming hunger, poverty and malnutrition require collective action by all stakeholders.
The diversity of the regions, people and resources connected within the worlds rice based systems requires a diverse approach for global rice based development that includes participation from the local to the international level.Hence Impact Assessment of Rice research is a important study.
